Customers are often more price-sensitive in emerging markets, but many companies stick to their product portfolio and pricing structures instead of adapting their products and marketing to take local sensitivities into account. As a result, their market share remains small compared with lower-priced competitors offering products that local consumers or businesses prefer to buy.
