Foreign Currency Regime of Kazakhstan

Since 2007 currency control has been significantly liberalized (licensing regime was abolished) Settlements between Kazakhstan residents have to be carried out in the Kazakhstan national currency, the Kazakh Tenge. Settlements between residents and non-residents are permitted in foreign currency. Loan and export-import transactions between residents and non-residents for a periodof more than 180 days and in excess of USD 100,000 for outbound transactions and USD 500,000 for inbound transactions are subject to obligatory registration with the National Bank of Kazakhstan.
